Posted Thursday, January 26, 2006 3:27:47 PM by Alex Molin

Almost every car manufacturer make sure amongst the different models there will be at list one considered a luxury car. BMS A6Audi is equipped with the new A6 which is a continuation of the firm's excellence and exceptional comfort policy.

How about the BMW 3 Series? These luxury cars are the dream cars of many drivers or maybe all drivers. And if the word luxury is on the table we can't ignore 2006 Cadillac CTS.

True, Cadillac wasn't associated with top luxury cars the past years, but this new car has definitely put it there.

I can continue counting all the new luxury cars including luxury sports car but why? If you really want to get a taste of a luxury car, why not go to a rental company and have fun for one day with the best luxury car you can afford without committing to a life time?

Detroit auto show a chance to rally industry
Posted Saturday, January 13, 2007 12:48:53 PM by Blog57 Team
More than ever this year, the Detroit automakers are taking a page from those old Mickey Rooney-Judy Garland musicals: Facing disaster, the plucky youngsters decorated the barn and put on a show to save the day. For Detroit, Cobo Center stands in for the old barn, with officials supporting a nearly $1 billion expansion plan to make it more convention-friendly. And the 2007 North American International Auto Show is Detroit's chance -- not last gasp, certainly, but increasingly desperate -- to show that it has the heart and the talent to stage a comeback and save the jobs of its dwindling auto-industry workforce. The show's razzle-dazzle started Sunday with media previews that continued through Tuesday; the show opens to the public Saturday and runs through Jan. 21. Automakers from around the world will introduce more than 50 cars and trucks at the event, which remains the pre-eminent auto show in North America....

Istanbul's international AutoShow ended Sunday. The fair, which attracted 600,000 visitors, will mostly be remembered for the luxury cars exhibited. Alfa Romeo, Bentley, Land Rover and Ferrari's latest models were crowd favorites. Hyundai's new Coupe model and the latest models of Kia appealed to female auto-lovers in particular. Among the 15 concept cars exhibited were the Peugeot 908 RC, Ford Losisx, Toyota Auris, and Renault Altica. Skoda's Roomster, also known as the flying automobile, also attracted a lot of attention. An appearance by Anna Kournikova, who was there to promote Kia's new models, attracted the rapt attention of the audience. Visitors expressed their content with Kia's Magentis, Opirus, Carens and Carnaval series....

Americans shift gears on luxury cars, sales skid 4%
Posted Thursday, November 09, 2006 10:51:54 AM by Blog57 Team
DETROIT: The celebrated love affair of Americans and luxury cars could be cooling down, and their homes may be at the heart of it. Driven by ageing baby boomers at the peak of their earnings power and dominated by European and Asian brands, the luxury segment of the US auto market has grown by 20% since the start of the decade. That growth, which came despite a pullback in the pace of less-pricey auto sales over the same period, brought the luxury segment to about 12% of 16.9m vehicles Americans bought in '05. But luxury car sales are down about 4% this year, and some analysts are seeing a potentially worrying connection with another venue for conspicuous consumption: real estate. They say a cool down in formerly hot pockets of the US housing market has begun to weigh on sales of premium cars, a segment that had been insulated from the downturn in overall car sales....

BMW's new cars fail to propel earnings
Posted Saturday, November 04, 2006 2:53:15 PM by Blog57 Team
Bayerische Motoren Werke, the largest maker of luxury cars in the world, said profit fell in the third quarter as rising sales of new 3-Series sedans failed to overcome a loss of market share to Mercedes-Benz among BMW's older models. Net income declined 0.7 percent to €452 million, or $578 million, from the same period a year earlier, the company said Thursday. Profit lagged behind the €471 million median estimate of 10 analysts. Norbert Reithofer, who succeeded Helmut Panke as chief executive in September, said that a target of raising 2006 pretax profit to €4 billion was "ambitious" as moves to retool the X5 sport-utility vehicle and Mini car had cut automotive revenue and profit. BMW has expanded its lineup with new models like the X3 SUV and the 1- Series compact car earlier than an expansion by Mercedes-Benz of DaimlerChrysler....

Prosecutor: Ferrari Crash Foiled Luxury Cars Plan

(AP) LOS ANGELES Opening statements are under way in the grand theft and embezzlement trial of a Swedish businessman who crashed a $1.5 million Ferrari in Malibu earlier this year. A prosecutor told jurors Monday that Bo Stefan Eriksson's scheme to defraud British banks almost worked until the Feb. 21 crash and the accompanying media attention. Prosecutors said Eriksson leased the cars in Britain, then shipped them to California in violation of the lease agreement. They say he stopped making payments and avoided detection by the banks until he crashed the Enzo into a utility pole at 162 miles per hour. The defense told jurors the vehicles were brought to the U.S. legitimately, and the banks knew their whereabouts. Eriksson could face up to eleven years in prison if convicted. ....

Search volume for fuel-efficient cars declines
Posted Monday, October 30, 2006 6:51:00 PM by Blog57 Team
Nationally, consumers wanting fuel-efficient vehicles has declined about on pace with dropping fuel prices. But, locally, that might not be the case, dealers say. According to the most recent Cars.com Consumer Search Index report, cars such as the Toyota Prius, Toyota Yaris and Honda Insight top the list of new and used vehicles with the largest decline in search volume in the past month. That may be the case, said Scott Ehrlich of Ehrlich Automobiles, dealerships that offer Toyota, Nissan, Volkswagen and other import and domestic lines, but it hasn't affected his sales that much. They offer big trucks and Sport Utility Vehicles as well as the economy fuel saving vehicles. Ehrlich said he's seen a slight shift away from the fuel-savers, but they are still a hot commodity on both the new and used local market....

FPV unleashes new Forces into luxury-performance market
Posted Thursday, October 26, 2006 6:48:38 AM by Blog57 Team
FPV's new Force 8 and Force 6 models will be more interested in pinstripes than GT stripes when they take on luxury-performance rivals in the battle for the corporate-executive dollar. The Force cars, launched today at the Sydney motor show, aim to be more appealing performance Falcons to executive buyers by offering more subtle styling than the brash brothers they are based on - the GT-P (Force 8) and F6 Typhoon (Force 6). While a new, exclusive range of more conservative paint schemes, colour-keyed bumper inserts, and interiors featuring dark woodgrain and chrome are the main design tricks used to set a more luxurious tone for the models, both Force Falcons also include more equipment as standard. The highly regarded ZF six-speed automatic - the only transmission available - is standard on both the Force 8 and Force 6, where it is optional only on both the GT-P and F6 Typhoon....

Younger Drivers Considering New Clean Diesel-Powered Cars as Concern Over High Fuel Prices and Consumption Grows
Posted Saturday, October 21, 2006 2:48:17 PM by Blog57 Team
FREDERICK, MD and MONTVALE, NJ - October 19, 2006: On the heels of the new Ultra-low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) fuel arriving at the pumps and the launch of the next generation of diesel-powered cars like the 2007 Mercedes- Benz E320 BLUETEC this week, a new omnibus survey has found that 50 percent of Generation Y (18-29 years in age) and 46 percent of Generation X (30-41 years of age) would consider buying or leasing a new clean diesel car. The survey findings echo recent predictions by J.D. Power and Associates that sales of diesel cars will nearly triple in the next ten years as advancements make today's diesels a greener, more fuel efficient and socially responsible alternative to gasoline-powered cars. The survey of more than 1,000 Americans co-sponsored by the Diesel Technology Forum and Mercedes-Benz USA also found that 70 percent of people still think that Americans are not doing enough to reduce fuel consumption, despite the fact that 69 percent of drivers surveyed reportedly took steps to change their driving practices during the past year in response to soaring gas prices....

Posted Tuesday, October 17, 2006 2:48:31 AM by Blog57 Team
General Motors (GM) has sold 100,000 cars in the Middle East region during the first nine months of 2006, marking a 21 percent increase over the same period last year, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported on Sunday. Visiting GM General Manager Terry Johnson revealed the figures at a press conference on Saturday in Kuwait, said KUNA. Johnson was quoted as attributing the growth to the Chevrolet series' success in the region, citing the doubled sales of Chevrolet's Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV), Tahoe and Suburban. According to the general manager, GM's luxury line-up, Cadillac, Hummer and Saab have also seen a increase of 58 percent over last year's figure. The Cadillac Escalade saw a 35 percent increase in regional sales by September over the number in 2005....

Foreign vehicles seized

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Customs department seized few imported luxury cars owned by some posh hotels in the State on charges that the managements violated the Customs Act. Sources said the hotel owners had imported the cars by paying a nominal five per cent duty under the Export Promotion Capital Goods scheme. The scheme allows foreign exchange earners in the country to import goods necessary for their business at a minimum rate of Customs duty. The normal import duty for luxury cars is more than 120 per cent of the original price. Vector control cell THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The student wing of Indian Medical Association (IMA) has started a Vector Control Cell to provide sufficient information about chikungunya.
