| What is considered to be a classic car? | | Posted Wednesday, January 25, 2006 5:23:41 PM by Alex Molin | |
Don’t confuse the term classic car with antique car – these are two different terms.
An "antique car" is a car that has a special value because of its age. In automotive terms it tends to refer to a vehicle that was built prior to 1915.
The terms “Classic cars” refers to specific models or important models built between 1925 and 1942 (with certain post-war exceptions). However, today this term is being used also by owners of almost any collectible car that is more than 25 years old.
Now that we got the terms right, let’s find out what are the most wanted classic cars of America:
1965-1970 Chevrolet ChevelleThe year 2003 was the Chevelles year. 1 in 5 cars Automobile Inspections that was asked to look at was a Chevelle! Coupe or convertible was in demand.
1967-1969 Chevrolet CamaroThe car that topped the list on 2004. Its price was also soared high reaching nearly $10,000 in the past twelve months!
1958-1967 Chevrolet Impala The Impala was in the top 5. This is always a car that attracted buyers but last year the interest definitely grew.
1967-1969 Ford MustangAs the 1965-66 mustang prices continue to climb above $25,000 - buyers started looking at these later models.
1955-1957 Chevrolet 210/Bel AirAfter the prices of these cars where so high two years ago only the nicest examples found buyers. Finally the prices went down and patient buyers have the chance to enjoy this classic car.
1965-1966 Ford MustangYou really can't go wrong with one of these just make sure it hasn't been hit and poorly repaired, and if its' a 289ci all the better - but even the 6 cylinder convertible cars have been finding buyers. Prices have kept these out of the budget for many buyers.
1965-1969 Pontiac GTOIf you've always wanted one, grab it before they get out of reach! Prices are climbing but this is still a good opportunity to buy. 2003 was the year of the Pontiac GTO. ... | |

| | | Old muscle, new conscience at SEMA show | | Posted Saturday, November 04, 2006 2:52:40 AM by Blog57 Team | | Even as a celebration of American muscle cars took center stage at this year's mod-manic Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, an emerging sense of environmental responsibility was also evident. The most striking example of this was the world debut of the EcoJet concept car (shown above), a one-off collaboration between General Motors and noted speed nut and talk show host Jay Leno. The car, built around a Corvette Z06 aluminum frame, is powered by a 650-hp turbine engine (similar to a helicopter engine) that will rocket the 2,100-pound car off line with 585 pound-feet of torque. The "eco" part of the name comes from the fact that the car will run on biodiesel, a clean-burning fuel derived from renewable resources. "We live in an era where liking cars and the environment don't seem to mix," Leno said during the EcoJet's unveiling at the SEMA show.... | |

| | | He saved his cars, sense of humor | | Posted Saturday, October 21, 2006 2:48:21 AM by Blog57 Team | | A few survivors have managed to find humor in the devastation of the 1991 firestorm. Take Bob Rigney, who lost his Oakland hills house and everything he owned when the fire swept down Grand View Drive like the wrath of God. Almost everything, that is. As reporter Martin Snapp discovered not long after the fire, Rigney saved his Mercedes, both of them, by himself. The fire was roaring down the hill Oct. 20, 1991 and Rigney was home alone with his two cars, a classic 1967 Mercedes 180 SL convertible and an almost new 450 SL. What to do? He came up with a plan. "I leapfrogged them," he recalled this week. "I drove one a couple hundred yards, came back, drove the second, then got in the first and so on." Finally, about halfway down the hill, with the ugly boiling smoke rising behind him, he passed a woman running away.... | |
