| | | Web site gives car dealers a woman's view | | Posted Tuesday, January 02, 2007 2:48:32 PM by Blog57 Team | | Women flat-out decide or in some way influence most of the car and truck purchases in the United States -- more than 80 percent, say some estimates. But talk to women candidly about their auto-buying experience, and you'll find many aren't thrilled with the experience in showrooms. Auto salesmen are still from Mars, it seems, and female car buyers are still from Venus. "When are you going to bring your husband in? When are you going to bring your dad in?" Women still report being asked those types of disrespectful questions, said Fara Warner, author of the 2005 book The Power of the Purse. So what's a male-dominated industry such as the car business to do? Enter AskPatty.com, started by a couple of entrepreneurs who thought they could make some money straightening out the problem.... | |

| | | Mugen Civic Si to be available through U.S. Honda dealers | | Posted Thursday, November 02, 2006 6:52:16 AM by Blog57 Team | | Normally, special Mugen edition vehicles are either restricted to the Japanese domestic market, or require avid importers to grab the necessary bits piece by piece. Mugen has now taken their expertise to the new Honda Civic Si sedan, focusing on improving the car's handling characteristics. This modified version will be commercially sold through U.S. Honda dealers. That said, you won't be able to just waltz into a showroom and demand a Mugen Civic; they are limiting production to just 500 units a year, setting the price under $30,000. The upgrades include track tuned suspension (which lowers the car by 0.6 inches), 18-inch lightweight forged aluminum wheels, high-grip BFGoodrich g-Force summer tires, a sport exhaust system, and "aerodynamic body styling." Look for this mildly tricked out ride to launch in Spring 2007.... | |

In a survey of major motor marts selling both new and used luxury vehicles, dealers said they were ready to offer huge discounts to the MPs. But the legislators should prepare to pay more money to top up the free government money if they truly want brand new luxury vehicles. The MPs stand to receive between Shs60-80 million when negotiations going on between the Parliamentary Commission and the Ministry of Finance get completed. At least 93 percent of all the 333 MPs sampled in a random poll by Daily Monitor have indicated they will take the money despite the public furore it has generated. The cheapest brand new four-wheel drive vehicle a legislator can buy with his/her government grant is about Shs63 million on the local market, a Daily Monitor survey has revealed....

Instead, the legislation would allow car dealers to continue to sell higher-emission vehicles in Pennsylvania through at least 2014, and it would prevent Pennsylvania from adopting a California rule that requires automakers to sell vehicles with lower carbon-dioxide emissions. Gov. Ed Rendell has pressed for regulations that would adopt California's tougher emissions standards on vehicles sold in Pennsylvania. The bill goes to the full House for consideration.STATE INVESTMENT RECORDS: The State Employees Retirement Board could restrict public inspection of some of its investment records if, in its judgment, the records requested meet certain conditions, under legislation approved 37-13 by the Senate....
