Exactly 100,064 BMW motorcycles were sold worldwide – the highest number ever supplied by the company to customers in a single year. As compared to the previous year (97,474 units) this means a sales increase of 2.7 per cent. And the company can boast yet another proud statistic for 2006: in December the number of all BMW motorcycles produced since 1923 reached the two million mark. By the end of the year a total of 2,061,977 motorcycles had been produced, 1,616,016 having come off the production lines of the motorcycle plant in Berlin-Spandau since 1969....

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, taking serious note of the growing incidents of street crime, had presided over a meeting in Karachi about a month ago and put the police on notice to control the situation. However, it continues unchanged. The citizens of Karachi have been paying all along with their lives and property and the cost of the lawlessness that is the sole responsibility of the government. | | | Motorcycle master | | Posted Tuesday, October 31, 2006 2:49:24 AM by Blog57 Team | | Paul Teutul's fame has taken off like a blown bike without binders, flogging it down the interstate to destinations unknown. Teutul, 57, is the patriarch of the dysfunctional clan that's helping fuel the national mania for motorcycles. He and his sons Paulie and Mikey (more formally Paul Jr. and Michael) star in the hit Discovery Channel reality series "American Chopper," which debuted in 2003 and is still carving its way across the countryside. In reality, they own Orange County Choppers, a seven-year-old company that designs and builds "choppers" or motorcycles with extended front ends. The bikes usually have been "chopped" or cut up to reduce weight. A third son, Danny, now owns Orange County Ironworks, the business that gave Paul Teutul his start back in the late '60s and early '70s....

Police sawed through several door locks before confiscating nine poker machines and nine mini-motorcycles at Motor-Sport Entertainment yesterday at about 2:30 p-m. Holyoke's licensing commission banned the licensing of video slot and poker machines in July. And the mini-bikes were confiscated by the Fire Department because officials said the gas tanks presented a fire hazard to the surrounding businesses and apartments overhead. Holyoke Police Captain Arthur Monfette said action is possible against the lease-holder, who was not on scene yesterday. The building owner, Yvon LeDuc, told The Republican of Springfield that he was unaware of any possible impropriety at Motor-Sport....

"This is great," 59-year-old Wayne Williams said as the couple spent a few minutes relaxing while the trike they had just taken for a test ride cooled down. "If I get a trike, it will be this one here." "We did doughnuts with it and it did pretty good," his 48-year-old wife said. "I might even learn to ride it by myself." That is what W.R. "Pappy" Schippers likes to hear. Through his DeLand-based machine shop, Schippers sells DFT (Darn Fine Trikes) kits to convert most standard motorcycles into three-wheeled machines. But he was spending Biketoberfest demonstrating the product outside the New Smyrna Beach motorcycle shop....
